Old Wine in a New WineskinCollege Choice, College Access Using Agent-Based ModelingUniversity of California, Los Angeles, lhenrick{at}ucla.edu An agent-based model is developed and demonstrated to be a feasible alternative method of analysis for the college choice/college access problem in higher education. The agent-based model captures agent heterogeneity and complex agent interactions in ways that cannot be accounted for through traditional statistical techniques. The agent-based model computer output was based on Patricia McDonoughs research using Pierre Bourdieus sociological theoretical framework.
